Keep on Hauling (plus how to wardrobe edit effectively)

Wanna know the best way to perform a wardobe edit/vinnies run? Get the boyfriend/partner/brother/father/nearest male neighbour to help you out. As I watched my boy pull mountains of clothes out of my wardrobe "I never see you wear this"..."You haven't worn this since last year"..."This is fricken ugly, what IS this?"... I wondered what the hell I had done, enlisting the boy to help me go through my clothes to decrease the size of my wardrobe. In the end, he had pulled three quarters of my clothes out and they all lay in a "throw away" pile on the bed. I rescued some, but all in all this was the most ruthless and effective vinnies run that I had ever done. I owe all of it to the dear boy. I did desperately need to decrease the size of my wardobe plus two tall boys (yes, I had that many clothes), so I am eternally grateful. I hope he knows that his services will be utilised A LOT more.

Now, I wish I had the boy with me on Wednesday when I went shopping, to tell me to stop. I have now yet another pale pink lipstick, plus two more red lipsticks. The two mascara's were what I actually went shopping for, because I am desperate to try them both. I did actually need another under eye concealer, because mine is running out. At $3.95 with 25% off, I really couldn't care less about buying that one.

I also bought another shirt, after throwing away an entire tall boy worth of stuff. I don't have anything like it, all my stripey shirts are blue, not green, but still. Probably not necessary.

I do find that when ever I do a wardrobe edit I then go and buy a whole new pile of stuff. I think I got dropped on the head when I was younger.

Sportsgirl Lipstick in Fruit Tingle, BYS Lipstick in Red Hot, Chi Chi Lipstick in Stylista, Chi Chi Lipstick in Exhibitionist.
Essence Stay Natural Concealer in Soft Nude, Eco Tools Concealer Brush, Face of Australia Impact-Curl Mascara, Australis Voluptulash Mascara, Just Jeans Shirt.

My sunnies were not purchased on the day, but I have recently fallen back in love with them so they get to be photographed as well.

I better make good use out of all this stuff, what would you like me to swatch/review first?

Seven Things About Me (Versatile Blogger award)

Seven Things About Me:

1.  I am obsessed with travelling. Any day that I have off I am visiting somewhere new (or revisiting somewhere old). I can't stay put in one place. If I spend a weekend without going away somewhere - even to the coast - I feel like the weekend was wasted. Bitches be crazy. .

2. I grew up in a small town called Kingaroy, 200kms north west of Brisbane. I moved to Brisbane purely for university. I miss the country side, I am sick of concrete, traffic and living in each other's pockets!

3. I got all the way to the end of the course work for one of my degree's before I realised that I am not passionate about it anymore. I hope that doesn't happen with the other degree or I have wasted a lot of time and money.

4. I have never owned a cat or a dog. My pets have included sheep, chickens, guinea pigs, budgies and fish

5. I love trees. There is nothing more beautiful to me than a tree, or scenery (country or beach) with trees.

6. I currently in the mood for a big adventure. I want to do something brave and step out of my comfort zone, but I have no idea what that will be yet.

7. I graduate uni (fingers crossed) at the end of the year. I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up.

One more for luck: I am really impatient. I mean really, really, really impatient. I want everything done ASAP, preferably yesterday. This is good for uni assignments - I sit down, smash them out and they are done. This is very bad for everyone around me, when I stay up late to reorganise a wardrobe and demand to take stuff to vinnies and midnight!

De Leon Cosmetics "Looks Better In Red Lipstick Balm and Lipgloss Review and Swatches

Glady's from De Leon Cosmetics is an absolute gem. I love a company that sends you an email which mentions "I have noticed that you like red lipstick, and I have a wonderful colour which you could try..." Yes please! I love that Glady's took the time to stalk my blog a little bit and find out what I like. It makes me smile. I also love red lipstick. It makes me smile. A lot.

De Leon "Looks Better In Red" Lipgloss:

If these photos have determined anything, I look better in red. This lip gloss is super highly pigmented, the swatches above were one swish of the lip gloss applicator. Super easy to blend and apply, this lip gloss is reasonably long lasting (about an hour). I say reasonably, because I don't wear lip gloss and haven't worn it since I was about 19. I hate gloopy shiny messy mouths that are dripping with shimmer. Yuck. I therefore don't really know how long lipgloss should last nowadays. I think the pigment in this baby definitely helps it out though! I also adore that this lipgloss is not super glossy. It gives your lips the type of soft pretty natural shine that a balm gives them. Perfect for me; it is a lip gloss that I would be happy wearing.

Since receiving this product, it has lived in my bag within a bag in my handbag, a very high honour usually only reserved for my Face of Australia Lip Quench lipsticks and my MAC Russian Red. Take that as you will.

De Leon "Looks Better in Red" Lipstick Balm:

Swatches: The Lipstick balm (top) and Lipgloss (bottom)

This lipstick balm is super soft - apply with a lip brush and be very gentle, or you will put a giant hole in the top of the balm. Super soft formula aside, this lip product is very lovely. Whilst being very creamy, the pigment is strong and long lasting. I wore this for 3 hours, then ate lunch and ate it off. The colour is gorgeous. It is a lovely blue based red which makes your teeth look whiter and brightens up my pale complexion. I would have delegated this baby a spot in my handbag (the colour, oh my goodness it is beautiful) however due to the balm shape application without a lip brush is not precise and can be a little messy. As the lip gloss doesn't provide a scary shine and is easier to apply in the car on the way to work, it wins the handbag spot. The lipstick balm wins the "reach for this in the morning after just finishing my makeup" spot.

The rest of my goodies to review, coming up in a later post. I just had to do the lipstick first, or I wouldn't be me!

Essence Lipstick in Red Carpet; Review and Swatches

Essence lipsticks are awesome and super cheap. One of my most perfect nudes is Essence All About Cupcake; it travels everywhere with me. I don't know if Red Carpet will be a hand bag staple for me (*smirk at the name*), I generally like my reds to be matte so they are long lasting and Essence Red Carpet has a very balmy, almost glossy texture, perfect for those of you who dislike the dry feeling of matte lipstick. I love how the slight orange tone in this lipstick brightens up my face, it is a colour unlike any that I own. For AUD $3.95, I am in love with this baby and I am sure she will get a fair bit of use!

Essence Ballerina Collection Blush Souffle

See that super soft pink glow on my cheeks up there? That tiny, wee little touch of pink which adds that extra dimension without the flushed look? That is Essence Ballerina Collection Blush Souffle. A beautiful, incredibly soft pink (the colour on my cheeks took four layers and I am crazy pale), this creme blush is an extremely soft mousse which glides on your skin like silk. I adore using it for that reason alone. Once powdered over with a translucent powder it lasts all day, however I would caution you against using a coloured powder over the top of this product, it would wipe all the colour off your cheeks in one fell swoop.

PS. It is $6.50 AUD and available in Target.

Face of Australia Malibu Barbie Review and Swatches.

Oh Face of Australia, can I marry you please? Your Lip Quenches are my favourite lippies in the entire world, and it doesn't change with each new one I add to my collection. Including Malibu Barbie I now own five. I also have my eye on at least two more.

Today's love fest blog post however focuses on the beautiful blue based pink that is Malibu Barbie. An SPF 30+ statement lip like no other this baby lives up to its name something chronic. I feel so much more blonde just wearing it. I quite literally adore this colour.

While the moisture factors mentioned in the other posts are still there, the magical things with these lipsticks is that even with all the moisture and creaminess on application, they last at least 3 hours without eating or drinking.

Now, if you will excuse me, my peroxide blonde hair, Louis Vuitton Speedy and Tinkerbell and I need to go shopping.

GlossyBox: My first Unboxening

A lot of Australian Beauty Bloggers have subscribed to GlossyBox and other beauty box services, with mixed reviews. GlossyBox got in contact with me about trialling one of their boxes, and I have to say that I was intrigued. I have not signed up to any subscription services, as I feel I would rather spend my money on full sized products that I have researched, or research a product and ask for a specific sample from a pharmacy/department store (for example). Purely because that way you end up with less stuff hanging around your house.

I can however see both sides of the coin. The beauty box subscriptions are wonderful for trying new products that you otherwise may not have thought to try, they provide you with a wider range of brands and you get a parcel in the mail once a month. I am an online shopping addict with my favourite part being the receiving of the parcels in the mail, so this is the point that appeals to me the most.

So, what did I think of the GlossyBox? Well, I have to admit that it was incredibly fun receiving a gorgeously packaged box in the mail. The outer box and the inner box were too cute for words, and I wasn't expecting them to be so pretty (even though I have heard other bloggers mention that they use them for storage. You would have though that would have given me an inkling...).

The products inside... well for my tastes it was mostly hits, with only a couple of misses. The when you open the box and get past the lovely little welcoming card the first thing you find is a couple of vouchers. To be honest I barely skim read these, I never use vouchers. Instead I just tore straight through to the beauty products.

The selection of products inside was good. I received an Avene Thermal Spring Water, I love this stuff so I was excited to play with it.  It's great for my senstive skin. A Proactive Cleansing Bar? I have skin so sensitive I basically have to bathe it in cream, so this is going to become a body soap for me (or it may get passed on to the boy). I am super pleased that I got a sample of KMS Free Shape, which is a heat activated shaping spray. After recently cutting my hair I need to heat style it a lot more and my current thermal protectant is almost empty, so KMS will be used a lot. I am also extremely pleased with the sample of the Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Cream, I have heard wonderful things about this brand and have never had the balls to shell out the money for it. Dr. Hauschka is going straight in the shower. I received a sample of a Nougat hand cream in a goody bag once (possible in my ABBW bags) and I liked it, so this one will be used up as well. So I have a use for everything, therefore GlossyBox has been pretty successful in my eyes.

Until you get to the power bracelet. I laughed when I saw this. A better example of the placebo effect mixed with marketing has probably never been shown. Although, it does cost around $30.0, so that is double the cost of the box right there.

All in all, I very much liked my GlossyBox, and if you are subscription box inclined I would definitely recommend it. Upon subscription you fill out your beauty profile, which allows GlossyBox to best match their months product selection to you. You can see that it works, my box was pretty well suited to me (minus the Proactive, although I do get pretty bad acne, so that is probably where that one came from, not their fault really). Subscribers are also rewarded with GlossyDots, which add up to the cost of a box and are awarded for example, for recruiting a friend.

Plus, it is only $14.95 a month, and for an online shopping addict, that is really a small price to pay for the thrill of a "You've Got Mail" card in the letter box.

This product was provided for PR Consideration in accordance with the disclosure policy. GlossyBox Australia can be found here (www.glossybox.com.au). A GlossyBox subscription is AUD $14.95 per month, including delivery.
