Morrocan Oil vs. Babylis Pro Argan Oil

I have been using the Babylis Pro Argan Oil for a long time (trust me, a long time, a bottle goes a long way), and I have been loving it. Recently, I acquired some Moroccan Oil in a fantastic little pack. Comparisons are therefore in order.

1. They smell the same. That gorgeous floral type scent (I am not really sure how to classify it). Pretty much identical.

2. The textures/consistencies are pretty much the same. I think Babylis Pro might be a little bit thinner, but other than that its almost identical.

3. They both feel gorgeous in your hair, absorb quickly and give your hair an amazing shine.

To be honest, the only difference that I can see is the tiny colour difference, Moroccan Oil is slightly more yellow, whereas Babylis Pro Argan Oil is slightly more pink.

In general, Argan oil is amazing for conditioning your hair. I have been using it almost every day for about 5 months, and off and on prior to that, and I have really noticed the change in the condition of my hair. YAY for this magical Moroccan oil I say!

Review: Covergirl Smokey Shadow Blast

Happy Friday Everyone! Now, I am pretty sure that a truckload of people have written about the Covergirl Smokey Shadow Blasts since they first came out, but I just want to put my two cents worth in.

Firstly, side note, has anyone seen the new Maxfactor Smokey Eye Effect sticks? They look strangely similar to the Covergirl ones...

Ok, back to the review. For administration purposes and to set the scene, I bought the colour "bronze fire", because I have green eyes and are also not as adventurous as the other colour combinations would suggest you should be.

To be honest, I am greatly disappointed with this product.
Why?

1. The colour is not very pigmented at all. The colour which you use for the liner is not that bad, but the colour which is supposed to be the all over colour is a little bit weak.

2. The applicator for the darker colour - the "liner" - is not really thin enough to be a great liner, and is really quite hard to use. The point of these is that they are supposed to be easy, but I think I get a lot more precision from a brush and a gel eyeliner, or my beloved Rimmel Professional Liquid Eyeliner.

3. The product does not last. Once applied, it lasts about ten minutes before it creases. Primer or no primer. This is crazy frustrating. Now it does not matter as much to me using the bronze one, as the bronze colour is quite light and the creasing, while noticeable, is not enough to stop you in your tracks and go running for the bathroom. It is just kinda annoying, and really, why bother with a product which will crease?

So, there you go. I really wanted to like these, because the thought of something easy was fantastic. It's just not meant to be.

see how pale the second colour is? Fail.

I only noticed when I took the photos, the product is starting to sweat and I have had it in the cupboard since I purchased it about a month ago. Fail.

100th post: Morroccan Oil Pack

Epic epic win. I am crazy excited right now. I know that as my hundredth post I should be writing about something more substantial than a Moroccan Oil haul, but still. I am excited.

My story goes like this. I ran out of Moroccan Oil the other day and did a little research on ry.com.au, because I have purchased many things off them before and I love that I get really prompt delivery. I feel like I can trust them, unlike poor Dee with her problems with Etsy the other day.

Anyways, back to my story. I was researching on Tuesday, and found a Moroccan Oil pack, which contains the full sized Moroccan Oil, full sized styling cream, and two baby travel sized Moroccan Oils. For incredible value for money ($64). Yes, $64. Amazing right? The full sized Moroccan Oil is listed on RY for $52.50, the styling cream is $44.50. I just saved about $40.

Huzzah!

It arrived today, two days after I placed my order. God I love Ry. They are a Gold Coast based company, so really it just has to walk up the road to Bris, but I love the prompt delivery. PS. although this post sounds like a paid advertisement and like I should have "I love RY" stamped on my head this is not a paid post. I am just crazy excited! (I think I may have mentioned that 30 times already...)

I can't wait to try the styling cream!

Review: Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Alarm

I have a thing about lipstick, which I wrote about a little while ago, here, here and here.

The thing is, that whenever I go out, I don't feel quite "finished" without something on my lips. The problem with this is as soon as you eat or drink anything, hello horrible ring around your mouth!
It is  a problem that I face a lot, making impromptu pictures kind of suck....

I chopped my friend out of this picture to avoid being seen with me, haha
Anyway, I now have a new lippie which I am in love with, and with good reason. It lasts for hours, without feeling like paint on your lips (like *cough* loreal infallible *cough*).
Rimmel Lasting finish is pretty great. I put it on before a big night out, and my pretty red lips were still in place after A LOT of drinks. I also tried it before a dinner, and same thing, still in place. To be honest, the only thing that it didn't last through was kissing... but hey, it can't be perfect, can it.
Plus, there was none of those "eww I just painted my lips with something like the consistency of paint and now it looks like dried blood"  moments. It is a great, creamy lipstick which maintains it's creaminess for quite a while. It does start to dry out your lips after about 2 hours of wear, and then once you apply lip balm the colour starts to transfer off, but if you can handle/too drunk to notice your drying lips, its fantastic!

Plus, extra points because I bought it for about $6.95 at a priceline sale. I think it normally retails for about $9.95, which is still a pretty good bargain!

They also have a nice baby pink which I have been eyeing off for a little while too....

sometimes....

Sometimes it is nice to let your skin breathe, and every now and again not wear makeup. I went away camping for Easter, and therefore applying makeup every day was just way too hard. After a few days of no makeup - and plenty of zinc sunscreen - my skin was quite clear. I don't know if it was because of the zinc (which is quite good for repairing your skin), or because of the fact that I was finally letting my skin breathe after months of clogging makeup over summer, but I am very grateful for my Easter trip away!

Since Easter I have only been wearing makeup when necessary (work, etc), and have been just wearing my Invisible Zinc Foundation to less important places like uni. Or, when heading to the gold coast (below) nothing at all.

Sometimes it is nice just to let your skin breathe.

Waterproof Eye Makeup Removers: Clarins vs. Loreal

I have been using an eye make up remover for a little while, and I am a little disappointed, because I love the brand.
The Clarins Gentle Eye Makeup Remover doesn't really remove makeup on me. I am currently using a cheap Rimmel waterproof mascara which flakes off and leaves black smudges under your eyes towards the end of the day (Rimmel Volume Flash - nice volume, dodgy formula, similar to another Rimmel mascara I know about...) and Clarins only removes the slightest amount, even after a full days wear. Sad. I do tend to quickly swipe over my eyes, so maybe you are supposed to soak your eyelids for a little while to help take it off. Application might be the key!

Although, on the plus side it doesn't sting my eyes. So if I had the patience to wait for it, it might actually be quite good. I however, am not that patient.

However, a very good waterproof makeup remover which I have used which much success is the Loreal Gentle Waterproof eye and lip make up remover. It removes makeup quickly and cleanly, it is fantastic! Definitely give that one a try if you are in the market for a new eye make up remover.
