TAG: This or that

This tag was started by Michelle, and I spotted it on Chloe Blue Likes to Sparkle. Now that you have a couple of blogs to read, I shall start with the tag.

 Makeup
Blush or bronzer: Winter = blush only, Summer = both (because I need a little colour to prevent vampire-ish-ness

Lip gloss or lipstick: Lipstick. Always. Or lip balm i.e Lanolips with a little colour in it. Like ChloeBlue, sticky lip gloss and I are not friends.

Eye liner or mascara: This is hard considering that I wear liquid liner and mascara almost every day. But if I had to choose - definitely mascara to open my eyes.

Foundation or concealer: Foundation to try and hide my pores. Concealer only if really necessary.

Neutral or colour eye shadow: Neutral. I have only bronze or pale champagne gold eye shadows (and one quite pale pink).

Pressed or loose eye shadow: Loose translucent powder. I have a pressed in my handbag but it only gets used very occasionally.

Brushes or sponges: Brushes. I always end up a tad streaky with sponges, do not like.

Nails
OPI or China Glaze: Don't hate me, but I haven't tried either properly... I have only ever used OPI once at a manicurists...

Long or short: Short. I used to have long in high school, every time I look at those pictures I cringe.

Acrylic or natural: Natural. To me, acrylics are super tacky.

Brights or darks: On my hands, I never wear nail polish. On my toes, it depends on the time of year - I tend to  be a little opposite, brights for winter, and darks for summer.

Flower or no flower: Never, ever, ever.

Body
Perfume or body mist: Perfume. Body mist is for primary school.

Lotion or body butter: Lotion in summer/daytime, body butter for before bed in winter after just shaving my legs. I can't stand it any other time, as it is so greasy!

Body wash or soap: Body wash, and I agree with Chloe when she said the stronger the better! I love my skin to smell for hours afterwards.

Lush or other bath company: Lush

Fashion
Jeans or trackies: Jeans

Stripes or plaid: Stripes, but only black/grey or white/navy blue.

Thongs or sandals: I live in thongs. All day every day, unless I have to look nice, in which case it is sandals. Actually, most of the time it is still thongs.

Scarves or hats: Scarves. Love them.

Studs or dangly earrings: Studs. Dangly's get in the way.

Heels or flats: Flats most of the time... unless it is a cocktail party on a Saturday night.

Cowboy boots or riding boots: Riding boots. Always. Cowboy boots?? Never unless you are a real cowboy, and I need to see those credentials.

Hair
Curly or straight: Curly. I only ever straighten it occasionally, cos I wash my hair every day and there is no point normally.

Bun or ponytail: Bun. This is the hair style that I wear almost every day.

Bobby pins or butterfly clips: I haven't worn butterfly clips since I was 8.... bobby pins are a necessity.

Hair spray or gel: Hair spray. Gel reminds me of when I used to do jazz dancing and we needed to gel our hair into stiff helmet buns which didn't move.

Long or short: Mid length. I used to love my really long hair, and I chopped it all off a little while ago and hated it (the curls curled out in a hilarious Sandra D hairstyle). I now think mid length is best on me.

Light or dark: Light. I have gone dark and it wasn't all that great.

Side or full fringe: neither. They drive me nuts and I play with them all the time.

Random
Rain or shine: Rain (as long as it is cold. Rain and hot = awful).

Summer or winter: Winter. Jeans, Ballet flats and scarves.

Autumn or spring: Autumn. Perfect temperature and orange/red leaves.

Chocolate or vanilla: Chocolate.

As always, if you managed to read down to here, consider yourself tagged. Go!

TAG: Examples of hoarding

I decided that instead of stealing other people's tags, I should create my own. Please feel free to TAG yourself in and run with this!

The dumbest thing that I do? Buy 645 of the same damn thing. I do it with everything (and then I wonder why I have 6 plain white t-shirts).

Case in point - my post on illuminators. Who needs 5 illuminators? They last forever! I love that at the end I wrote that I would use them all up... I haven't. I have finished my MAC soft and gentle (that stuff really is amazeballs), but everything else is just sitting in the cupboard, slowly going old.

My beauty cabinet is rife with examples of over spending on the same things...

6 different facial moisturizers/oils

5 different sunscreens (Nivea one doesn't even get used!)

7 different fake tans - none of which get used anymore, I have embraced the pale again

5 different Aveda hair products - one is never enough apparently

state of my makeup drawer - among other things, I have 3 different foundations!

Anyways, if you have gotten to the end you are tagged. I want to see your examples of hoarding!

TAG: I wish I hadn't bothered

I know, I know, have an original thought why don't you? But I saw this tag and I thought it was insanely interesting, and therefore I thought I would do a quick little post to warn you about products I think are useless.

Jacquie started the tag, and I saw it on Dee's blog.

Normally when you are reading blogs everything is so positive, sometimes its nice to finally hear that something isn't all sunshine and fairytales.

First up, Nivea Q10 Tinted Moisturizer: I really dislike this stuff. I read heaps of great blogs on it, but I really don't like it. Must be just me.
The reason's why I don't like it? It never seems to dry. Therefore you appear to be really oily very quickly. It also doesn't last very long at all. Plus it only contains an SPF of 15. Clinique City Block is much much better, if you are in the running for a tinted sunscreen which is quite light on the skin.

Nak Done-and-Dusted Magic Dust: I bought this after Zoe Foster among other's kept going on and on about how awesome Aveda Magic Dust is. I was being cheap and decided that this would probably do the trick for $25 less. It really doesn't (I have since learned not to skimp anyways, Aveda products are far and above anything else for hair care). This dust makes blonde hair look quite greasy, and I found that a tub doesn't tend to last long, there is only a tiny bit of powder in the bottom of that big tub when you first buy it!

The Body Shop Matte It Primer: This stuff is very thick. It does a great job as a mattifier, however because it is so thick it actually helps to make my make-up slide off much faster. I think I would rather stick to translucent powder.

Sportsgirl Shady Lady Eyeshadow In Prom Night: This eyeshadow is not very pigmented at all. I thought that it would give a lovely wash of pink over your eyelids, instead you get barely any colour, and a few little hunks of glitter. In order to get that lovely wash of pink you really have to load up your brush.

My eleven most reached for items

Dee from Miss Prissypants tagged anyone who wanted to do this, and since I haven't done a post in about a million years and today is my "I have a really big assignment to write but oh look, the washing up needs doing, and oh look, I could wash my bed, and oh look etc etc" day I figured another good way to procrastinate was to write a post.

Dee's top 11 things were mostly about makeup, you can read all about it here. She tagged in from Jade, who had a video about it here.

Ok, admin out of the way, on to the top 11 things.

1. Olay Complete Defence SPF 30+ daily moisturizing lotion.
I have used this on and off for about 5 years. I love it so much. In fact, the only time that I have stopped using it was at the start of last year when I went all hippie and wanted to use an organic moisturizer. That desperately failed because my skin dried right out and then the sunscreen I was using made my skin go even more pimply... fail. I went back to using my trusty two in one and my skin went back to normal. Success. This moisturizer is very light, and the sunscreen is fantastic, I find that it lasts all day without reapplication (I can't reapply sunscreen on my face when I have make-up on, its just too weird). Also, as I explained in this post, chemical sunscreen needs to go directly onto your skin, and moisturizer on top. If that just feels too weird, like it does for me, then this is perfect.

2. Neutrogena Ultimate Sport Spray 30+.
I have blaahhed on and on about how much I adore the cream version of this sunscreen - here, here and here. Now that I have no time the spray version is just that much faster... winner! Plus, it is still so light that it feels like you have no sunscreen on at all.

3. Hissyfit Saving Face SPF 30+. This is another product which I have talked about and talked about. It is truly awesome, I wear it most days instead of foundation. Read the full blog/review here, or watch my video (!) about it here.

4. Smashbox High Definition Concealer.
This concealer is fantastic. It is a light liquid, but incredibly highly pigmented. A tiny bit goes a very, very long way (I have had this tube for at least a year, with near daily use). Plus, it is in a tube, which makes it much more hygienic than a pot or a stick concealer. I love this stuff.

5. Nars the Mutliple in Orgasm.
I used to be a MAC pinch-of-peach girl. Now I have moved on, and my new love is Nars. It is just such a fantastic colour, and the formulation gives you peachy pink cheeks all day, it incredibly long lasting. But I won't blah on here about it again, 'cos I have already done so here!

6. Australis Ready Set Go Finishing Powder.
I love this powder. I used to use a mineral powder (the nude by nature mineral finishing veil), but I read a few good reviews on this one, tried it and fell in love. It is a true translucent, it doesn't go ashy ever, and you only need a little bit to set your makeup. Plus, it is so cheap!

7. Australis Jumbo Mineral Bronzing Powder. Another product which I have already reviewed, but it really is a product which I reach for every day. I am starting to lose the bronzer a little bit, now that winter is on its way (not that Brisbane gets a winter, but I can pretend), but I still sweep a light dust of this over my cheeks every morning. I kinda feel a bit naked without it.

8. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle. This is a fan-bloody-tastic illuminator. It really truly is. I am almost running out too, but even though I own a lot of illuminators, I am going to have to re-purchase this one. Again, I have already reviewed it here, so I won't go into it again.

9. Rimmel Glam Eyes Professional Liquid Eyeliner.
This is the BEST eyeliner ever. That is all.

10. Maybelline Colossal Volume Express Mascara in Glam Black.
This is the best mascara ever. Again, that is all.

And finally, lucky last....

11. Lanolips.
This could really mean any of the Lanolips lip balms, I own and love them all. This is one of my desert island products I think. If I can't find one in my bag I tend to go into a minor panic attack (yes, uni is stressing me out to the point of crazy). Plus, the coloured ones are SPF 15. Winner.

I just noticed, that 3 of my 11 items were sunscreen. I am obsessed. Oh well, that is what happens when you live in Queensland.

I now tag in anyone who wants to do this! I would love to know your 11 things!
