I finally worked out something about me, which is actually something quite unfortunate. I believe I have a reaction to Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS). After years and years having an itchy scalp (no dandruff, just itch), and constantly combing through with a fine tooth comb wondering where the hell I might have gotten nits from (and never finding nits - obviously), I had a light bulb moment. I was researching all of the chemical nasties that are in products, as I am trying to be a little bit greener with my beauty prods. The information that I was reading was talking about how SLS is an irritant and can cause skin to become tight and itchy, and it you look at it under a microscope you could see that it was becoming dryer. This twigged my interest a little, but it wasn't until I was chatting to one of my friends that the little light bulb in my head lit up. She mentioned that one of the ladies sitting next to her in the hair dressers the day before had mentioned that she had a reaction to SLS which caused her scalp to become very itchy, and once she swapped to a SLS free shampoo it went away. DING. Light bulb.
I have always been a fan of hairdresser/salon formulations however, and I wasn't keen on going completely hippie and buying an organic/natural/nothing but essential oils shampoo. I popped in to my nearest Priceline and had a look, and in between all of the natural formulations (which I am sure that I will try one day, I have heard that many are very good) was David Babaii, sitting pretty on the shelves. Considering that Mr. Babaii is the hair dresser for Kate Hudson, who always has gorgeous hair, grabbed my attention. Also, my Priceline sells through his products like there is no tomorrow, which made me think that a lot of people must like them. Also, I had tried the hair polish when it first came out and found that it was really good for maintaining the health of my hair. Tick, tick, tick, may as well give it ago right?
Firstly, the very first day I found that my scalp was much less itchy, and I am almost the entire way through the bottle and my scalp is no longer itchy AT ALL. That's a big deal, because for as long as I can remember I have had an itchy scalp. Also, the formulation is lovely, even though it doesn't contain SLS it still foams (SLS is the foaming ingredient in many foaming gels/cleansers/shampoos), which means that your hair still feels like it is being cleaned properly. Also, the product smells divine, like coconuts. Perfect for summer, when all you want to be is a giant tropical fruit. Ha.

| Here they are, just chilling in my bathroom |
But the main thing, the most important thing, is that it has made my hair incredible. So soft and manageable. I have always had dry hair (comes with the territory for us blondies), and this is the best that I can ever remember my hair being. Frizz is gone. My hair is shiny (incredibly tough for blonde hair. You normally need a gallon of shine serum and even then it doesn't shine very well. Again, comes with the territory).
This is my hair having dried naturally, with absolutely no product in it.
Sorry about the vanity shot. Just very very pleased with the state of my hair! Flick-flick-swish.

A penny for your thoughts? (not really, I am not that rich)
